Commissioning a hat
We love to work with our clients to produce a beautiful handmade hat for your special occasion.
What do i get if i commission a hat?
I offer a bespoke millinery service in Dorset, where I will design and make you a bespoke hat, or headpiece to match your outfit and suit your special occasion.
I am able to dye a variety of materials to ensure that your hat is the identical colour to compliment your outfit.
A commissioned piece costs anywhere between £125 for a simple headpiece up to £450 for a fully trimmed blocked hat with a handmade, complex trim.
Depending on the time of year, this process will normally take between 3 to 6 weeks from start to finish. There are three elements to this:
-
Step 1
You are welcome to make a no obligation appointment to discuss your requirements; it is ideal if you have a picture of your outfit so we can discuss ideas to suit your look. At the consultation you will have your head measured and try on different hats and headpiece shapes and together we can choose a style which suits your face shape, silhouette and outfit. We will also discuss the type of trims which you desire and generally have fun putting together the finishing touches to your outfit. Finally, you will be given a guide as to how much your commission will cost and if you want to go ahead at this stage you will be asked for a 50% deposit. -
Step 2
If you decide to go ahead with your commission at the second consultation you will try on the basic shape of your design, changes can be made at this stage and different trims will be discussed further. -
Step 3
This final visit will be when you try your hat on for the final time and take it away and pay the remainder of the commission price.
Please don’t hesitate to contact me here, if you would like to have an informal discussion about commissioning your own bespoke hat. I look forward to hearing from you.
